Friday, March 13 7:00 – 8:15pm (doors open 6:30pm) Union Station Historic Ticketing Hall Ever think of the Gold Line as the Monorail? The freeway as the Autopia? The Bob Baker Marionette Theater as Fantasyland? "Rediscover the heart and soul of our city as I have," says Ambassador of Americana, Charles Phoenix, "Downtown Los Angeles is like a great big theme park!" Charles explores the backstories and glories of legendary landmarks and iconic attractions while revealing hidden treasures and time warps along the way. This is your "theme park" guide to Union Station, Olvera Street, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Angels Flight, Bradbury Building, Grand Central Market, Broadway's movie palaces, Echo Park, Carroll Avenue, Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Clifton's Cafeteria, Philippe's and much more. Ambassador of Americana Charles Phoenix is a festive food crafter, field tripper and collector of Kodachrome. His spirited live performances, madcap videos, field trip tours, culinary concoctions and coffee table books, explore America's classic and kitschy pop cultural past and present. Program is free and open to all ages. Guests are welcome to bring food and drink (no alcohol is permitted). Triple Chicken Foot Friday, March 27 45-minute sets at 4:00pm & 5:00pm Union Station Waiting Room Triple Chicken Foot plays old time fiddle and banjo tunes, with Ben Guzman on fiddle, Mike Heinle on banjo and Kelly Marie Martin on guitar.  They have performed at the Autry National Center, LACMA, and at numerous clubs around Southern California. They have also performed at local festivals including Goleta Fiddlers Convention, Topanga Banjo and Fiddle Contest and the New Los Angeles Folk Festival. They regularly host old time square dances and jams in Los Angeles. Metro Presents showcases an exciting array of arts and cultural programs at historic Union Station. All events are free and open to the public. For more information: metro.net/unionstation (click on Events) Metro Art Moves Art Tour Saturday, March 7 10:00am – 12:00pm Meet at street level entrance to Hollywood/Highland Station on Hollywood Blvd. Led by trained Metro Art Docents, free guided tours throughout the Metro system are offered on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month. Tours focus on getting around town using transit, sharing the stories and processes behind artworks in various stations, and drawing attention to area destinations served by Metro. Union Station Art & Architecture Tour Sunday, March 8 10:30am - 12:30pm Meet at Union Station Information Kiosk, inside Alameda Street entrance Led by trained Metro Art Docents, the tour will cover historic Union Station art, architecture and spaces not generally open to the public, including the Historic Ticketing Hall and former Fred Harvey restaurant. Additionally, the tour will explore artworks located in the Gold Line Portal, Union Station East and inside the Metro Gateway Headquarters Building. Tour is free. Reservations are not required. Meet at the information booth inside the Alameda Street entrance to historic Union Station. Well Suited – An Art Tour Celebrating Fashion Week Saturday, March 14 10:00am – 12:00pm Meet at Union Station Information Kiosk, inside Alameda Street entrance Take a stroll for LA Fashion Week with a tour of artworks along the Metro Red Line. The free, one day only tour will include visits to Faith Ringgold's PEOPLE PORTRAITS: in CREATIVITY; PERFORMING; SPORTS and FASHION and Tyree Guyton's People in Motion at Vermont/Beverly Station (detail pictured above), from the perspective of fashion industry insider Jay Carlile of Beverly Hills, who will discuss fashions depicted in the artworks along with historic LA trends. Show your valid TAP card, Metro employee ID, or LA County employee ID to your server at Cole's French Dip in Downtown LA to save 15% on your bill. Tour is limited to the first 50 attendees. First-come, first-served. Metro Art Moves tours highlight Metro's diverse collection of artworks, heighten the passenger experience in fun and engaging ways to boost public perceptions about transit, promote rider etiquette and offer opportunities for discovery. Through the Eyes of Artists Poster Signings In the tradition of celebrating transportation through vibrant travel destination posters, Metro commissions a diverse range of Los Angeles artists to create original artworks for the "Through the Eyes of Artists" series. Posters are displayed on board Metro trains and buses.
