THAR SHE BLOWS: A WHALE OF A TALE IN NEWPORT BEACH

Southern California beach towns are great places to visit anytime. Scenic Newport Beach is no exception. The main attraction here is the harbor and the best way to enjoy it is to get out on the water. Kayak or paddleboard in the back bay, take a harbor cruise, or do like we did recently and go whale watching. On the way out of the harbor we saw some beautiful beaches, homes and yachts.

Heading out into the harbor

Thar she blows! We found a giant Blue whale coming up for air just outside the harbor. And found out that the Giant Blue Whale is the largest creature to have ever inhabited our planet.

We spent about 2 hours following this whale as it dove for food and came up for air.  The skippers on the whale watching boats are very adept and experienced at keeping the whale within sight and manuevering the boat for the best views. A fantastic voyage!

Amuse yourself before and after the cruise.

Paddle around the back bay
